Democrat wins Massachusetts battle for senate

Democrat Elizabeth Warren has won the battle for the Senate in Massachusetts against Republican Scott Brown.

In one of the most expensive Senate battles in history she became the first woman to represent the State in Senate.

Students from the University of Massachusetts celebrated and claimed it was relieving to be back in Democratic control.

‘We just found out that Elizabeth Warren won the senate against Brown. This is of great relief to the state of Massachusetts.”

Republicans had only held the seat since 2010, after the death of Democrat Ted Kennedy, who had held the post for almost fifty years.

Ms Warren was reported to have danced onto the stage amongst a chorus of cheers and expressing that it “was a great for a first time candidate to get in the ring.”
