Hello one and all,
My name is Oscar. I am editor-in-chief of Bournemouth University’s coverage of the US presidential election and I would like to welcome you to the first editorial of our website!
On our website you will find news, features, infographics and blogs all about – surprisingly – the 2012 US presidential election.
In the week leading up to Election Day, we will be providing you with the latest breaking news concerning each presidential campaign.
We will also be providing a variety of features produced by students at Bournemouth University and further abroad.
On election night – Tuesday 6 November (make a note in your diary) – we will have live multi-platform coverage of the final few hours of the US presidential election.
Between 9pm and 7am (BST) on that night, we will have live TV, radio and online coverage. Both TV and radio coverage can be accessed on this website via the “Go Live” tab.
We have partnered with a local radio station, Hope FM, who has agreed to broadcast our radio content simultaneously.
We’re also working with a number of students abroad, including the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
Our coverage will be engaging for a younger audience. They are the next generation of voters. They need to recognise the significance of the right to vote and political happenings that are taking place away from their doorstep.
However, this is not only about us. It is about you: the audience. We want you to be involved. So, tweet us, reach us on Facebook or become a part of our coverage.
It’s a fabulous opportunity to show off the many talents of Bournemouth University students and we want as many people to be a part of this event as possible.
We hope you will be a part of this.
Oscar
