An emotional Barack Obama has made his final campaign speech of his career in front of over 20,000 people in Iowa.
The President, campaigning for a second term, wiped away a tear as he rallied for support in the Midwestern state.
He also expressed how it was here, in 2007, where his path to victory began.
“I’ve come back to Iowa one more time to ask for your vote. This is where our movement for change began”
Throughout the day he campaigned in several states and was joined by musicians Bruce Springsteen and Jay-Z.
Springsteen spent the whole day with Obama travelling on Air Force one whilst Jay-Z came on stage in Columbus, Ohio and sung his hit 99 problems. A slight change of the lyrics added support to the President’s campaign, altering the hit line to “I’ve got 99 problems but Mitt ain’t one.”
His campaign spokeswoman, Jen Psaki, denied claims that using celebrities reduced the substance of speeches when rallying.
As Obama admitted that there was little else he could do to change the course of the election he made it clear that Americans shouldn’t “give up on change.”
Now, with the results just hours away, Obama is expected to relax by playing basketball with some friends and doing some interviews.
This is quite a conventional election day approach but surprisingly Romney hasn’t followed suit, the Republican candidate is continuing to campaign in Ohio and Pennsylvania.
